News This is the page for all that's September 25 2004 To whom it may concern. On Saturday the 25th of September a friend and I travelled from our homes in Cornwall to a HTM and obedience show in Devon which was held at Crealy Adventure Park. This is a round trip of 200 miles. I had previously rung and spoken to Wyn Leney who was the secretary of the HTM/Freestyle show, she had explained that spectator tickets were £5 each and could be ordered by post before the show. I duly sent off a cheque for £10 and enclosed a covering letter which I signed and a sae to myself. The tickets arrived a few days afterwards. On arrival at the show we made our way to the building the HTM/Freestyle was being held in and found seats. After about half an hour we went to buy raffle tickets. I was approached by Donelda Guy who asked “What is your name” I replied that it was Lynn and she said “Lynn who?” I answered Lynn Crook and she walked away. She then returned and asked if I would go with her a few feet from the group of people around the raffle table. I did so and she explained that I should not have been allowed to enter the show as my name was on their organisation's “banned list”. I said I was not entered and was simply watching other friends who were due to compete. She said "You are not welcome here". She carried on to explain that it was because things had been said on the internet 3 years ago during a discussion on one of the many lists. I tried to explain to her that I was simply watching a KC registered event. She said that I and several other people were on this “banned” list and if any of us had sent an entry it would have been refused. I reiterated that I was there to spectate. At this point I moved away as I was not prepared to continue in a fruitless discussion , I asked if I could buy raffle tickets and she said yes. Having bought my tickets I returned to my seat and was then approached by Angela Barrah who was clearly out of control, she shouted at me that she would not have me there and that she would refund my £5 spectator ticket. By this time I was upset and embarrassed and also quite frightened. I explained that my friend would also need her money back and Angela Barrah refused as she threw a five pound note at me. Donelda Guy then said she would refund my friends money and she did so. My friend did try and talk to both ladies and explain that we had come a long way and were simply going to watch but to no avail. I was hustled out by Wyn Leney. We had a coffee on site before going to the car which was parked at the obedience site. Before leaving I tried to talk to the show manager who was named on the front of the catalogue I had bought for £2, he was the obedience show manager and had no idea about the HTM/Freestyle, he and another gentleman were very sympathetic and did offer to try and get us back into the building. We refused this offer because I was worried that Angela Barrah would become totally out of control again and it would cause a very nasty scene which would not help us or the sport we enjoy so much. As I understand it Exeter Dog Training club are responsible for both the obedience and HTM/Freestyle show. I would suppose therefore that they have the ‘banned’ list of people and if I tried to enter a show they were running or to spectate at one I would be refused. I would appreciate clarification on this point if possible both from the Kennel Club who granted the license and from Exeter Dog Training Club. Folks, remember the name - Canine Showtime. Next time they hold an event make your choices wisely. 'Course if you're on the 'banned' list, assuming such a list exists, you may not even have a choice. And now a word from the owner of this website: This web site and the list ‘dancingwithdogs’ does not condone the behaviour by some of those that ran the Exeter HTM show. This web site and the list will not advertise or promote any shows or courses that are run by Canine Showtime. Only shows run by Rugby DTC, Canine Freestyle GB, Paws N Music and other shows run by individuals or organisations not involved with Canine Show time will be promoted. Behaviour such as been displayed at the show on September 25 2004 cannot be condoned. This sport needs to move on and not get bogged down in the quagmire of bitter, petty resentments. There have been some fantastic shows this year and it is to be hoped that those wishing to promote the sport will continue to host these events and not be put off by the behaviour of others. It is also hoped that other organisations, individuals and groups will also be proactive in trying to stamp out this unsavoury element. We must all work together; we may not always agree or even like each other but that does not mean we cannot grow and develop. A new HTM club is being formed in the North of England -
the aim is for it to become K.C registered and run K.C licensed HTM
shows. The club has provisionally been called the Northern HTM

A special meeting of the Heelwork To Music Freestyle Association (HTMFA) was
held and the HTMFA was formally wound up and no longer exists as an organisation.

The Heelwork to Music & Freestyle Association (HTMFA) is now in crisis
mode. Things came to a head when the Chair of the Association, Angela Barrah, expelled 5 committee
members from not only the committee but also the Association itself. Many members have called for
an emergency general meeting to discuss this and other major issues - but the Chair has
unceremoniously stated that the HTMFA internet email list is not a recognised list and has unsubbed
from it leaving approx 100 members stunned at her draconian decision.
The latest in this long running controversial saga is that the 5 remaining
committee members have decided to run the Newark show; however they have changed the date, not
informed the membership and are asking for cheques to be made payable to an account that has been
frozen - the crisis deepens.
A call has been made by several members of the HTMFA for people to neither enter nor attend the Newark show unless and until a members' meeting has been held where these major critical issues can be discussed.
